When is the next meteor shower worth watching?

Use the calendar for the published peak date, then check the local sky forecast nearer the time. An active shower may produce little away from its peak. Calendar dates are not a forecast of how many meteors you will see.

A broad, dark view of the sky is useful for meteors. You do not need to face north as you might for a low aurora display. Moonlight, clouds and nearby lighting can hide fainter meteors, so compare viewing conditions as well as the shower date.
