Find the best crags for your week.

Climbing weather, shaped by the terrain. Compare inland crags, quarries and bouldering venues by rock condition, drying, shade and face wind, from valley venues to mountain cliffs.

Regions describe where a crag is, not its height or exposure. A Peak District quarry and a mountain cliff can need very different forecasts.

Compare conditions for Tue 20 Oct.

The strongest forecast signal comes first. Equal scores are ordered by the period average, then lower forecast rain and face gusts where available. Scores remain unchanged. Weekend results use each crag’s best available day.

15 crags have a wet sandstone or gritstone warning during this period. Affected days are excluded: wait until the rock is fully dry.

Forecast generated 14 October 2026 at 05:30 UTC. Includes Mountain Weather rock and exposure estimates. This is a build time, not a single model-run time.

Weather data: Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0). Adapted by Mountain Weather.

These rankings compare selected inland crags, not every UK venue. For coastal conditions, the separate sea-crag research preview includes waves, swell, spray signals and tide references where available. It does not calculate safe-access windows or feed these rankings. More venues are planned. Crag drying and sheltered-wind estimates remain unvalidated; summit-station checks do not establish accuracy at a climbing face.

How to read the list

A useful shortlist, not a promise of dry rock.

Each crag starts at 100, then loses points for the available rain, drying, dew, wind, cold, heat and serious-hazard signals for its representative sectors. Wet-rock and thunder signals can also limit the highest possible score. A weekend result is ranked by the strongest available day, then by the average across the weekend, so a good Saturday is not hidden by a poorer Sunday.

Open a crag to compare its sectors and expand Why this score? for the actual deductions. The ranking deliberately stops short of route-level claims: aspect, shade, drainage, seepage and rock condition can change within a few metres. Read the climbing score method.
